think about it this way.

your resume is basically a document that sells you as a person and the skills that you can bring to the job.

in that sense, put yourself in the shoes of a recruiter. what would you like to see in a resume? what would make your resume stand out from the other applicants?

for admin position, try to highlight your organisational and microsoft office skils. basically highlight skills relevant to the position that you are applying for; of course, you must genuinely have that skill!

Basic stuff to include for your case would be your contact details and educational background.

Since you have no job experience, you can list down the CCAs which you have taken part in, and elaborate on the projects and events that you helped to organise.

Remember to include details that may impress employers, which can be the number of students which attended your event in school, or the sum of donations you helped to raise for your CCA.

You need to highlight your skills that are key to the job role, aswell as your qualifications to show that you have made the most of your time not employed

You may also include honors and achievements at school such as finishing at the top 10 of your class or representative of your school to an inter-school competition that is related to the job you are applying.

there may be some temporary jobs that need not require your resume but application to fill in your personal details such as educational qualifications, hobbies, personal particulars etc.

you can google & find model resumes in the internet. typical headings include work experiences, educational qualifications, personal profile, achievements, hobbies, referees. like some members here have pointed out - put your shoes into the shoes of a recruiter. what makes you unique that the recruiter must know.

another way to think is that it might be good to put a detailed resume as it might be the "ticket" to a potential full time job in future or next future.

It might be a chance with the company that you are "temp-ing" with. Else, it could be with another company where your existing company happen to be on good terms with, and feeling that you can fit in, intro you in. Blah Blah.

Agree?

The best way to know whether to write or how to write a resume is ask yourself " If I am the Boss , do I want to waste my time on reading their self-boasting resume?"

You can also think :" If I don't need this stupid job, how will I write a resume? "

Let's think another way, if you are a Boss writing in to provide a service to the company , how will you write? Will you write as if you are begging the company for a job? Or you hold yourself as same level as the Boss of the Company?

Smile Do well in your appraisals to keep the job!

The answer is yes, temp jobs do require a detailed resume as employers will evaluate you based on the same criteria as permanent staff hiring.

Remember, employers are looking for candidates who can perform the job well and your resume must reflect your skills and capabilities to fulfill the requirements.

Once you get that job, it's best if you just focus on your job, and do whatever you can to make sure you keep it!

Be sure to keep track of your key achievements during the year. Particularly during performance appraisal time, it's critical to show the value that you bring to the company. Use the right phrases or comments such as "successfully developed...", "able to overcome communications and cultural barrier working with teams in multiple countries..."

I am also considered a fresh graduate as I have jsut gotten my Diploma recently. However, I am going into NS soon and I only hope to look for temporary jobs that I can work before moving on to NS.

When I go and look for jobs, they also ask me whether I got bring my full resume along, if I never bring, then I will have to send them through email.
So temporary jobs also require writing full resumes as employers will look through our full resumes and assess us through there also for temporary jobs.

Hi panda112.

Yes, a proper resume is needed for temp jobs also. It is best to treat such roles just as you would a permanent position. This would be when applying for the job and also when performing on the job. Your aim (if that's what you want) should be to perform well and try and convert the temp role into a permanent positon with the company.

Regarding writing of a resume, do have a look at our Insights/blog website where you will find a number of useful articles/videos on the topic. http://blog.sandboxadvisors.com

Thanks

I think it is better to include as much information as possible. Earlier post also advise that it is better to treat a temp job like a perm job.

So temporary jobs also require writing full resumes as employers will look through our full resumes and assess us through there also for temporary jobs.

Purpose of resume - to get invited for the interview or perform the most basic fuction - who are you & why should I, as the Recruiter need your services.

Dependable on temp jobs; in general resumes help to profile yourself. Hence it's a useful tool to justify your worth to companies. If it's job agencies, they keep your resumes for future references via their HR system or paper-based filing.

So it's professional to send resumes over
