Default Expected remuneration for hotels/IRs

Hi, I'm pretty keen of making a switch to the hospitality industry and building a career in it. However, I'm not very in tune of the remuneration expectation. I would care for some advice.

I am a diploma holder (also studying for a degree) with more than 1.5 years in customer service, sales and operations exposure in the banking and financial services industry.

The position I'd be aiming for would be at the frontline so that I could learn about the operations and understand the client base better before I do make a switch to the finance section in a couple of years, after obtaining my degree.

I am aware of the lower remuneration and longer working hours but am keen to make this bold move. Appreciate for any kind advices anyone can share with me.

i think frontline service staff have a general salary of around $1,200 to $1,400, especially for diploma holders. i think it's very brave and wise of you to make this career switch. with the opening of the IRs, this industry is certainly blooming. good luck!

Hi there!

I'm also keen in making a switch to travel and hotel front desk officer related post. Anyone can share their experience or challenges on a typical work day? and also the prospect of becoming a duty manager one day?

Indeed, having a good job that pays well today is close to impossible. But how can we demand for a high salary if we are not 'marketable' enough to the employers? We must not contented only on receiving our salary on payday but we must strive harder for improvement. We must crave for seminars and training for this will improve our skills.

Moreover, vacationing worldwide is not just a waste of money but did you know that it can also lead you into more successful career choices? Learn how the skills you develop while traveling can help you with your career. You may read further: How travel can aid your career

Default Nice question!

First of all before I begin, I would like to commend this helpful blog

I personally believe you should go to where your heart leads you. Choose not a career because of its pay or because its "in" right now but choose something that defines your passion.
